News: Toulon Sign Another Springbok

Van der Linde will join Toulon

Van der Linde will join Toulon

Now, this may come as a shock to you, but the usually frugal Toulon have decided to break with tradition and offer a lucrative contract to an aging South African player *shock/horror*

According to the French publication, Midi Olympique, Toulon have signed former Leinster and London Irish prop, CJ van der Linde on a two year deal.

The thirty three year old, who holds sixty five caps for his native South Africa, will be the latest in a massive community of South Africans plying their trade at the reigning European Champions.

Indeed, van der Linde will join his compatriots, Bryan Habana, Michael Claassens, Bakkies Botha, Craig Burden and Juan Smith in the South of France.

Given the depth Toulon have in their squad, it wouldn’t be a stretch for them to garner yet more European silverware next season in the inaugural Rugby Champions Cup.
